OPERATIONS COST REDUCTION VIA AUTOMATION OF PRODUCTION UNIT

Client: A Food Processing company from Butwal, a Tier 2 city in the Terai Region of the Himalayan Landscape. Its close proximity to the Indian border has attracted businesses to establish production units in the region.

The client is undergoing a major overhaul of its operational practices. The transformation also marks the handover of the management to the younger members of the family-run business.

Things that need to be ready:

  • Old processes need to be revisited.
  • Opportunities for operational excellence need to be explored.
  • The readiness of the organization in all aspects of capability has to be developed.

First Avocado in its many months-long interventions focused on various levers to drive efficiency and effectiveness at the operations floor.

First Avocado partnered with a production and instrumentation design firm to recreate the production process. The automation of the task reduced transaction time from production to packaging, and also led to a reduction in waste.
First Avocado also ensured that production-technology met the process standards to ensure sustainability. Efficient workflow practices that include feedback loops and data-driven decision-making was implemented.

The client was able to make an annual savings of 1.1 Crore Nepali Rupees ($91,500).

This is also paving the way for a faster production process for testing new package food to market.

The change created NO MAJOR DISRUPTION TO BUSINESS. The business maintained its steady cash flow during the transformational phase.
