ESTABLISHING A LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT PRACTICE IN THE GROWTH CYCLE

Client: The client is eSewa Pvt. Ltd. A digital wallet based in Nepal providing instant online payment solutions. It is a subsidiary of F1Soft International, it is Asia’s first digital wallet and is based on Kathmandu Nepal.

The client is a pin-up poster story of a successful Nepalese entrepreneurial journey. At the time of this intervention in 2018-19 by First Avocado, the client employed over 180 employees across Kathmandu and other Tier 2 cities in Nepal.

eSewa is an excellent case of a thriving entrepreneurial journey in Nepal, that now stands as a powerhouse of job creation and unique career opportunities.

eSewa is hustling in their run-up for Digital 2020. Digital 2020 is a shared vision of Government of Nepal and fintech partners to empower all citizens and make financial transactions all inclusive.

eSewa as the pioneer of Nepali fintech solution providers, shoulders a bigger responsibility in shaping the digital 2020. It was eSewa’s Leadership strategic intent to revitalize and strengthen its work habits and process capability, so as to echo a shared language, that of both an entrepreneurial spirit and that of an enterprise mindset.

This is when eSewa partners with First Avocado.

Similar to most IT enabled services, business models thrives on creating unique ecosystems. eSewa, operating model does not follow text-book based management and organization design guidelines.
First Avocado’s deeper understanding of technology-enabled businesses, its people and process, through consultants that bring both local and global flavor will establish success criteria for the engagement.

 

 

Over a period of many months, First Avocado focused on

1. Process analysis, streamlining and redesign.

2. Establishing Learning and Development practice, and fostering people development.

The Process analysis, streamlining and documentation were conducted through tried and tested discovery exercise. This laid the foundation for development for performance indicators and procedural instructions.

The Learning and development practice led to a creation of learning space, learning mindset and learning specialist in HR practice. Several workshops and training sessions were held, that focused on creating awareness and identifying learning opportunities.

Change is sustainable only when it is relevant.

First Avocado spent a considerable time in understanding the cross functional aspect of its operating model, and its unique positioning in the value chain.
This helped create a shared language in all discussion forums of learning, ideating, and change.

We are now on our 2nd leg in Organization design for 2022-2023 with eSewa.
